Comment "jouer" Macbeth avec des sons ?
En proposant trois séquences musicales successives, basées toutes trois sur le même texte : le monologue de lady Macbeth à l'acte V de la pièce.
La première séquence, confiée au contre-ténor, installe d'emblée une poétique de la nuit : somnambule, Lady Macbeth supplie le sommeil de venir - mais Macbeth "a tué le sommeil" et la nuit est devenue l'enfer du remords.
La deuxième séquence, chantée par la soprane, répète le même texte en l'éclairant de façon différente : en accentuant l'horreur de Lady M, la voix féminine prolonge l'angoisse de son monologue et son sentiment d'irréparable, de destin implacable.
Enfin, une troisième séquence redit le remords qui ne cesse de tourner dans l'esprit de Lady M, cette fois chanté par les deux voix, dans une version éclatée du même texte : la répétition est l'essence du remords, sans fin ni pardon possible.
How to "play" Macbeth with sounds?
By proposing three successive musical sequences, all based on the same text: Lady Macbeth's monologue in Act V of the play.
The first sequence, entrusted to the counter-tenor, immediately installs a poetic night : Lady Macbeth, a sleepwalker, begs the sleep to come - but Macbeth "killed the sleep" and the night has become the hell of remorse.
The second sequence, sung by the soprano, repeats the same text in the clarifier of a different : by accentuating the horror of Lady M, the female voice prolongs the anguish of her monologue and her feeling of irreparable, implacable fate.
Finally, a third sequence repeats the remorse that continues to turn in Lady M's mind, this time sung by two voices, in an exploded version of the same text : repetition is the essence of remorse, without end or possible forgiveness.
