En quelques années seulement, Gautier Garrigue a su se faire une place très particulière sur la scène européenne.
Fort de moyens techniques exceptionnels et d'un goût très sûr, naturellement à la recherche de sonorités nouvelles, il s'est forgé une identité qui en fait un sideman très prisé et très respecté aussi outre- Atlantique. On peut déjà l'entendre sur une quarantaine d'enregistrements et ses engagements au sein des formations d'Henri Texier, Seamus Blake, Emile Parisien, David Enhco, Hermon Mehari, Yaron Herman, Kyle Eastwood... l'ont amené à se produire sur les scènes importantes d'Europe.
Au sein du groupe « Flash Pig », il a trouvé un premier terrain favorable à l'épanouissement de ses qualités de compositeur et de directeur musical.

In just a few years, Gautier Garrigue has carved out a very special place for himself on the European scene. His traditional drumming is a skilful blend of suppleness and strength. The restraint of Paul Motian and the power and lyricism of DeJohnette are all evident. Armed with exceptional technical resources and impeccable taste, and always on the lookout for new sounds, he has forged an identity that makes him a much sought-after and respected sideman across the Atlantic too. He can already be heard on some forty recordings, and his work with bands such as Henri Texier, Seamus Blake, Emile Parisien, David Enhco, Hermon Mehari, Yaron Herman and Kyle Eastwood has taken him to the major stages of Europe.
In the group Flash Pig, he found the first fertile ground in which to develop his skills as a composer and musical director. Flash Pig is part of the vitality of a new generation that has the potential to renew forms.Their desire for action, their sense of community and their artistic independence could well contribute to a return to the adventurous spirit of the founding fathers. In this respect, Flash Pig's repeated successes are gratifying.
With La Traversée, Gautier Garrigue once again steps out of his comfort zone to take on new leadership responsibilities. As a guitarist, he has composed pieces that he plays with an orchestra of friends and accomplices, in deep intimacy with his universe. A journey through atmospheres, wide spaces and suspensions, tensions, changes of direction and dynamic shocks. An American folk song, a few love tunes, vivid memories of Kenny Wheeler, Plage du Troc, a launch pad for virtuosos as free as air, Laniakea, the Hawaiian word for that immense celestial horizon, a supercluster of galaxies... the listener, between awakening and abandonment, lets himself be transported and surprised.
For his debut as a leader, Gautier Garrigue pulls off the tour de force of simply offering the breadth of his world, contrasting and coherent. With a beautiful maturity and natural sincerity, supported by exceptional musicians, he avoids the common trap of a first demonstrative presentation to give free rein to his poetry.
